Psychologist (SOG/ST 7), Medical Services Branch
Job Purpose
The incumbent is responsible for assisting individuals in achieving more effective personal, social, educational and vocational development and adjustment.
Qualifications
- Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology;
- Additional training in a related discipline such as education or supervisory management.
- Two (2) years experience in an adult patient/client setting.
Responsibilities
- Collects information about clients, using interviews, case histories, observational techniques and other assessment methods;
- Assists clients to understand personal or interactive problems, define goals and develop realistic action plans;
- Develops therapeutic treatment plans based on individual interest, abilities and needs of clients;
- Selects, administers or interprets psychological tests to assess intelligence, aptitude, ability or interests;
- Analyzes data, such as interview notes, test results and reference manuals and texts to identify symptoms and diagnose the nature of the clients problems;
- Maintains patient documentation and records to reflect care provided in keeping with established procedural guidelines, professional standards;
- Maintains confidentiality of client records;
- Develops and maintains a constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintaining them over time;
- Counsels and provides support to caregivers;
- Uses data collected to analyze and provide statistics;
- Appropriate educational tools and materials developed and utilized in providing effective learning experiences around the issues of psycholopgy.
Required Skills
Functional /Technical:
- Ability to conduct lectures, seminars and workshops
- Familiarization with basic medical/orthopedics anatomical terminology, or have had some medical or paramedical training
- Ability to work with traumatized/severely disabled persons Counselling techniques

Salary
Salary range is $1,857,817 - $2,208,360 per annum and any allowance(s) attached to the post.
