Dental Nurse / Hygienist

Position: Dental Nurse / Hygienist (HTAC/DN2)

Qualifications & Experience

• 4 CSECs of GCE OLevel including English Language and a numeric subject
• Certification in Dentistry from the Dental Auxiliary School
• At least one (1) year experience in the dental field

Responsibilities

The Dental Nurse/Hygienist is responsible for assessing and providing oral health treatment to patients between the ages of one to nineteen (1-19) years old.

• Reviews and refers patients;
• Conducts oral health examination for enrollment in school;
• Updates and maintains patients dental records in keeping with the required standards;
• Undertakes assessment and recommends appropriate oral health actions to be taken by the guardian/parent/child to reduce and control conditions that may compromise food and hygiene;
• Captures and  reviews/assesses dental x-rays;
• Administer appropriate first aid techniques to patients in need;
• Takes and records patients vital signs (blood pressure, temperature and pulse).

Specific Knowledge & Skills

• Good computation skills;
• Knowledge of the organizations policies and procedures;
• Knowledge of Staff Order and the Public Service Regulations, 1961;
• High level integrity;
• Ability to pay attention to detail;
• Good time management skills.

Special Conditions

• Typical working environment;
• May be required to work beyond the normal working hours;
• Office located some distance from the main entrance;
• May be subjected to search based on JDFs rule.

Note

Salary scale: $1,181,971 - $1,404,992 per annum with effect from April 1, 2019.
