Medical Laboratory Technologist

Job Summary

The Medical Laboratory Technologist performs a variety of Laboratory test and procedures to assist physicians in diagnosing monitoring treating and preventing disease. These test have a wide range of areas: Chemistry, hematology, microbiology to name a few.

Qualifications & Experience

• An accredited BSc Degree in Medical Technology or its equivalent.
• 3 - 5 years experience in a similar field.
• Must be a member of the Council of Profession Supplementary to Medicine 

Responsibilities

• Maintains quality results by running standards and controls, verifying equipment function through routine equipment maintenance and advanced trouble shooting; calibrating equipment utilizing approved testing procedures; monitoring quality control measures and protocols.
• Maintain laboratory supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies and verifying receipts of supplies.
• Prepare reports of technological findings by collecting, analysing and summarizing information.
• Maintains patient’s confidence and protects the hospital by keeping information confidential.
• Use automated equipment and computerized instruments capable of performing a number of tests at the same time.
• Supervise laboratory staff.
