Job Title:    Peer Link (PL)

Locations:  Kingston, Montego Bay, St. Ann

Reports:     Peer Navigator

Deliverables

  1. Attends and participates in at least one (1) planning meeting per month
  2. Attends and participates in at least one (1) in-house training session per month
  3. Prepares and submits monthly calendar/schedule for one-on-one interventions and executes these interventions
  4. Attends at least two (2) group interventions per month
  5. During one-on-one interventions provides information to 20 contacts (MSM/SW/ LBT/ WLHIV/ WLD) in outreach per month on:

Jamaica AIDS Support for Life (JASL) to include the Organisation’s:

  • History
  • Mission, Vision, Goal
  • Locations (Head Office & Chapters)
  • Focus
  • Suite of Prevention, Treatment and Enabling Environment Services

HIV, AIDS and other STIs to include:

  • Categories of STI: Bacterial, Viral, Protozoal, Fungal, Parasitic
  • HIV: What it is, History, Stages - Acute HIVInfection, Clinical Latency (HIV Inactivity or Dormancy), Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS), Prevention, Transmission, Connection to other STIs, Treatment and the Continuum of Care
  • Syphilis: Prevention, Transmission, Stages - Primary, Secondary, Latent, Tertiary Stages
  • Gonorrhoea: Prevention, Transmission, Symptoms, Treatment
  • Chlamydia: Prevention, Transmission, Symptoms, Treatment
  • Bacterial Vaginosis: Prevention, Transmission, Symptoms, Treatment
  • Herpes: Prevention, Transmission, Types: Oral & Genital; Symptoms, Treatment for Outbreak

  • Making the Connection between Violence and HIV and Related Health Outcomes
  • Describing what Violence is
  • Noting that Violence is Common
  • The Common Types of Violence Experienced by Key Groups (MSM, SW, LBT, WLHIV, WLD)
  • Violence Experienced at Different Levels by the Groups
  • Asking Contacts Permission to ask if they have Experienced Violence
  • Delivering Core Messaging when asking about as well as Responding to a Disclosure of Violence
  • Talking about Safety
  • Sharing Referral Options
  • Leaving the Contacts with Next Steps

  • Stigma and Discrimination: Definition of Stigma, Different Forms of Stigma, Definition of Discrimination, Difference between Stigma and Discrimination, Stigma and Discrimination as Barriers to Health-related Services

  • Five (5) new women from the LBT community clinical sessions with a doctor and nurse, psychologist (one on one or couples counseling/VAW support group
  • Five (5) new contacts (MSM/TGW/SW) for HIV Testing and Counselling (HTC)
