Ambulance Attendant
Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the position of Ambulance Attendant (HSC/HS 3) at the University Hospital of the West Indies in the Transport Department.
Requirements
-
Certificate in Allied Health Care – HEART NVQJ• Training in customer service relations• Three (3) years’ experience in Auxiliary Health Care practices
Required competencies
-
- Good communication skills (written and oral).
- Proficient in the careful handling and moving of objects.
- Effective listening skills.
- High level of proficiency in customer care.
Responsibilities
Under the general direction of the Transport Manager the individual will:
- Provide auxiliary care to patients to facilitate the essential
- delivery of medical care by health care professionals at the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI).
- Assist ambulance drivers in transporting sick, injured, or convalescent persons to and from specified locations.
- Assist in lifting patients onto wheeled cart or stretcher and into and out of ambulance.
- Remove and replace soiled linens from cot.
- Replace supplies and disposable items on ambulances.
- Provide reports of accidents or emergencies to the appropriate authority.
- Restrain patients when necessary.
