Regional STI/HIV/AIDS Programme Coordinator (MDG/MO 4)
The Western Regional Health Authority (a Statutory Body under the Ministry of Health) is currently seeking to employ a Regional STI/HIV/AIDS Programme Coordinator. Under the direction of the Regional Medical Epidemiologist the incumbent’s core responsibility are below.
Qualifications and Experience
- M.B.B.S. from an accredited medical school with post graduate degree in Public Health.
- Registration with the Medical Council of Jamaica.
- At least 1 year experience with programme planning, assessment and implementation of HIV clinical care and curriculum development.
Responsibilities
- Participate in the development of Regional plans and programmes for reducing incidences of STI’s and HIV/AIDS surveillance.
- Ensure the maintenance and operation of all STI/HIV/AIDS surveillance and reporting systems in the Region.
- Supervise the Regional STI/HIV/AIDS staff (e.g. Regional BCC Coordinator, Regional Contact Investigator, MO’s(H) and Regional Health Records Administrator) to ensure the efficiency of data collection and compilation.
- Ensure the generation of timely, accurate and comprehensive reports including financial reports, for Regional use and submission to the Ministry of Health.
- Provide technical leadership in development, coordination, implementation and monitoring of region-wide STI/HIV-related projects.
- Monitor and evaluate the implementation of Quality Assurance programmes for controlling and preventing occupational exposures to blood-borne infections (especially HIV).
- Collaborate with researchers and engage in research into the STI/HIV problem in WRHA.
- Arrange for and assist in the training of public health and other officers in matters related to STI/HIV/AIDS.
- Liaise with the parish MO’s(H) and Hospital SMO’s in the development and writing of grant proposals for STI/HIV-related projects in the Regional Health Authority.
- Ensure the utilization of programmatic data to guide the management of STI/HIV/AIDS programmes.
- Represent the Regional Health Authority in matters related to STI/HIV/AIDS at the national, regional and international meetings, conferences, etc.
- Perform any other related duties as assigned from time to time.
Specific Knowledge Required
- Excellent time management, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to write reports, analyze and interpret data.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with people of different backgrounds.
- Willingness to travel to clinics and hospitals throughout WRHA.
