Medical Imaging Practitioner 1

The Southern Regional Health Authority (SRHA), a Statutory Body under the Ministry of Health
responsible for the management and operation of Public Health Services within the Parishes of
Clarendon, Manchester and St. Elizabeth, invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the
following position: Medical Imaging Practitioner 1 (HPC/MIP1) Percy Junor Hospital.

Under the direction of the Manager Medical Imaging Services, The Medical Imaging Practitioner 1 will be responsible on a daily basis for:-
1.   Performing activities associated with delivery of diagnostic radiography services.
2.   Maintaining acceptable standards of radiation practice, radiation protection and patient care.
3.   Controlling patient load and flow for the unit to which he/she is assigned.

Qualification and Experience

• First degree in Diagnostic Imaging or equivalent from a recognized University
• At least two (2) years working experience in a similar position.
• Registration by the Council of Professions Supplementary to medicine.

• Ability to maintain professional standards and satisfactory working relationships.

• Time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Performing general x-ray and other imaging procedures according to acceptable
  International standards, as directed by protocol and as per medical requisition.
  
• Performing emergency radiography outside of normal working hours.
  
• Performing bedside and operative radiography, in consultation with the Senior
  Radiographer, using prescribed protocols.
  
• Managing imaging examinations in accordance with approved patient care
  procedures.
  
• Manipulating imaging equipment using electrical factors in accordance with
  radiation safety regulations.
  
• Assisting in monitoring darkroom and product to ensure compliance with standard
  protocol.
  
• Maintaining good interpersonal relations with staff, patients and other members of
  the health team.

Note

Salary range $1,181,971-1,404,992 per annum and any allowance (s) attached to the post.
