The Southern Regional Health Authority (SRHA), a Statutory Body under the Ministry of Health responsible for the management and operation of Public Health Services within the Parishes of Clarendon, Manchester and St. Elizabeth, invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the following position:

ADHERENCE COUNSELLOR (HSC/HS4)
(salary range $653,313 – $776,583 per annum and any allowance (s) attached to the post)
St. Elizabeth Health Department

Under the general supervision of the Medical Officer (Health) and Regional Social Worker; the Adherence Counsellor has responsibility to conduct  comprehensive social investigations in order to identify the social, emotional and economic needs  of people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) and also to initiate appropriate case management strategies.

Qualifications

• Three (3) CXC subjects or equivalent inclusive of Mathematics and English Language
  Or
• High School Diploma or Diploma from a Technical School/HEART Trust
• Minimum of two (2) years experience in the Public Health System
• Experience of working with People Living With HIV Aids (PLWHA) is desirable

Specific Knowledge and Skills Required

• Comprehensive knowledge of the scope and methods of social work
  • Excellent Oral and Written Communication Skills
  • Working Knowledge of Public Health systems relating to delivery of health care
  • Knowledge of HIV/AIDS and related prevention, treatment, care and support
  • Must demonstrate the ability to provide counseling and compassionate care for PLWHAs

Asset

• Training in Voluntary Counselling & Testing or delivery of Home Based Case
• Knowledge in the area of Anti-retroviral and Opportunistic drug use
