Pharmacist
The North East Regional Health Authority, a statutory body under the Ministry of Health with responsibility for the management and delivery of public health services within the parishes of St. Ann, St. Mary and Portland, is seeking dynamic and proactive individuals with strong analytical and team building skills to fill the position of Pharmacist (HPC/PHS 2), in the Parishes of St. Mary and Portland.
Reports to the Parish Pharmacist.
Qualifications and Experience
- sampGraduate of an accredited institution with a Diploma/Bachelor degree in Pharmacy;
- Registered Pharmacist licensed by the Pharmacy Council of Jamaica;
- Minimum of two (2) years working experience in a pharmacy at a supervisory level.
Key Duties
- Ensuring that prescriptions dispensed are in accordance with the required standards
which include authenticity, compatibility and quantity dispensed; - Monitoring supplies and request made from internal or central supply unit;
- Ensuring compliance of pharmacist staff with pharmacy norms and standards;
- Ensuring that all statistical records are maintained as required;
- Presenting drug reviews to staff and providing drug information to patients as
scheduled; - Ensuring that pre-packaging of specific pharmaceuticals is undertaken daily for
easier dispensing and distribution.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of regulatory framework related to the practice of Pharmacy;
- Ability to communicate effectively with other members of the health team and
patients; - Excellent customer service skills;
- Excellent decision making and supervisory techniques;
- Good time management
