Job Purpose
Under the direction of the Director Victim Services Division the incumbent is required to provide  assessment and treatment methodologies as well as  emotional and technical support to victims of crime. In addition, the incumbent is required to guide the  work of the Regional Directors and Victim Services  Managers through the development and implementation of Clinical Psychological Programmes  for and provide interrelationship with clients in  keeping with professional standards:

  • provide individual, family, or group psychotherapy
  • design and implement behaviour modification programs

 

Qualification and Experience

  • Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology OR Clinical Social Work;
  • Three (3) to five (5) years relevant work experience in a psychosocial environment with therapeutic interventions (preferably with the government);
  • Experience in program development and  social administration environment;
  • Experience in Research, Clinical Interventions;
  • Competent in Microsoft Office Suite i.e. Word,  Excel, PowerPoint etc.

 

Responsibilities

  • To develop and implement psychological interventions for use by technical
    staff within the Division;
    • Leads the implementation of victim support strategies and planning capabilities within assigned region;
    • Designs and develops behaviour modification activities and various forms of inventories and procedures in order to maintain a standardized operation at the Regional level;
    • Manages the implementation of policies and procedures to ensure the delivery of high quality client service;
    • Coordinates the development, design and implementation of appropriate 
      therapeutic interventions for victims;
    • Tracks and monitors the implementation of Victim Support Programmes including client services at the Regional and Parish levels;
    • Monitors the Parish Offices to ensure the maintenance of high levels of service to clients and stakeholders;
  • To provide high level clinical psychological services to victims of crime in keeping with established standards for interventions;
    • Designs and implements behaviour modifications programmes;
    • Conducts interviews, psychological tests and assessments on clients to determine psychological disorders;
    • Interpret psychological and  assessments/tests and make diagnosis;
    • Provides relevant therapeutic interventions such as group and individual counselling to clients;
    • Develops and implements appropriate case treatment plans;
    • Ascertains the scope, type, frequency, level, intensity and duration of  treatment;
    • Discusses case treatment intervention  with clients;
    • Consults with technical staff at the  Regional and Parish levels re complex cases;
    • Conducts visitations, make observations of clients individually or in group settings;
    • Employs the use of a variety of treatment methods to effect therapy including Psychotherapy, Behaviour Modification etc.;
    • Develops reports on clients and maintains relevant records;
    • Attends court session on behalf of  victims as necessary;
    • Leads the development and implementation of training programmes  for staff;
    • Monitors and evaluates the use of case intervention throughout the island;
    • Delivers counselling and other therapy to victims;
    • Refers clients to other specialist institutions, or support services as necessary;
    • Coordinates along with regions relevant  psychological programmes across the island.
  • To forge partnerships and appropriate linkages with stakeholders fostering development.
    • Liaises with the Regional/Victim Support Managers to guide the development of appropriate case treatment  interventions for victim support in the parish;
    • Implements various procedures developed in the delivery of client services and guides the design of inventories;
    • Monitors and evaluates the  implementation of policies and  procedures to ensure the delivery of  high quality client service;
    • Conducts impact assessment studies on  client services and on the satisfaction of stakeholders;
    • Coordinates and collaborates with MOJ’s  Research Agenda;
    • Participates in the conduct of promotional meetings to showcase the work of the VSD;
    • Seeks feedback from internal and external stakeholders with regard to their satisfaction with the level of  service provided;
    • Makes presentation on victim support  issues at events, Seminars, Conferences, and Symposiums.
    • Sets up appointments for staff debriefing in collaboration with Regional  Directors.

    the Ministry of Justice’s programme of intervention on behalf of crime Victims.

 

Authority

  • Assign, approve and prioritise interventions;
  • Recommend changes/amendments in respect to client services;
  • Provide policy/procedural advice to the Director Victim Services;
  • Diagnose behaviour/mental conditions;
  • Act upon referrals from Regional Directors and Programmes Manager.

Salary

$2,254,290 per annum and travelling allowances at the rate of $894,924 (with motor car) $362,472 (without motor car)
