Medical Technologist

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the position of Medical Technologist.

Purpose

A Medical Technologist is responsible for conducting laboratory tests which provide  information to physicians for the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of diseases in patients.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology
• At least 1-3 years experience

Responsibilities

• Performs clinical laboratory tests such as haematology, immunohematology, chemistry, bacteriology, mycology, serology, parasitology, endocrinology, general immunology and urinalysis;
• Operates and maintain laboratory instrumentation;
• Perform quality controls and documents QC on each lab procedure on a daily basis;
• Participates in external proficiency testing and in continuing education classes to maintain licensure and remain updated on changes in the Medical Technology field;
• Prepares reagents for use in the lab procedures;
• Prepare reports of technological findings by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information;
• Report and record all equipment/analyzer failure in the appropriate log.

Required knowledge, skills and competencies

• Good interpersonal skills;
• Excellent judgement and initiative;
• Knowledgeable and competency in major disciplines in Medical Technology.
