Nurse

The HEART/National Service Training Agency Trust (HEART/NSTA Trust), a statutory  organisation mandated to co-ordinate and facilitate  the training, assessment and certification  of the Jamaican workforce to international standards, invites applications for the position of:

NURSE (8 WEEKS, 4 POSITIONS)
HOPE/NSCP RESIDENTIAL CAMP
TRELAWNY & ST ANN

The Nurse is responsible for creating and maintaining a health care programme and  providing basic health care to enhance the  wellness of trainees, staff and guests. The  incumbent administers first aid, conducts health  education, administers to medical emergencies,  inspects the public health status of the facilities  and refers staff/trainees/guests to various  medical agencies.

Qualification & Experience

• NVQ-J Level 5 Certification, Bachelors  Degree or equivalent and the designation  of Registered Nurse by the Nursing Council of Jamaica;
• At least three (3) years relevant work experience in a comparable position or  business/work environment such as an  industrial operation, an education  institution, a major health centre or a  hospital.

Key Duties

• Co-ordinates medical examination for staff and maintains medical records;
• Maintains adequate supply of  pharmaceuticals;
• Manages Sick Bay to ensure standard  health and hygiene practices are observed;
• Provides guidance to trainees and staff on  primary health care and hygiene issues;
• Administers First Aid to staff, trainees and  guests and treatment referred / recommended where necessary;
• Escorts trainees, staff and guests to obtain  medical attention in cases of emergency;
• Coordinates training sessions in First Aid;
• Co-ordinates health and wellness  programmes.
