Technical Supervisor - Radiology
Job Summary
The Technical Supervisor for the Radiology Department is responsible for assisting with coordinating the activities in the Radiology Department, including the supervision of the Radiographers. He/She will also be responsible for performing various diagnostic imaging examinations, advising, and assisting with quality control, equipment acquisition and maintenance and other departmental related matters.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree/ Caribbean Diploma/ B.Sc. in Diagnostic Imaging (Radiography)
- Five (5) years as a Diagnostic Radiographer with Supervisory experience
- Additional modality certification and experience (CT, MRI, Ultrasound etc.)
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR)
- Current registration with the Council for Professions Supplementary to Medicine
- Be knowledgeable of and committed to the philosophy, principles, and mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Principal duties
- Assigns, directs, and schedules the day-to-day work of assigned staff in the Radiology/Imaging Department;
- Liaises with Radiologists and the technical team;
- Prepares monthly On Call and daily Radiographer’s rotas;
- Process timecards and claims as necessary;
- Ensures assigned rooms are stocked and clean;
- Monitors and evaluates the work of assigned employees; assists management in establishing employee performance expectations, objectives, and goals; monitors and reviews the quality and quantity of employee work; initiates and implements disciplinary action if necessary;
- Orients and trains new employees on departmental policies and procedures and the proper use of diagnostic imaging equipment; develops in-service training programs to help staff maintain competency and/or to learn how to use new procedures/equipment; ensures that all assigned staff have the required core competencies;
- Coaches and encourages staff in a manner that fosters a teamwork approach and facilitates good working relationships between department personnel and other hospital employees, including physicians;
- Oversees students/interns and ensures that programme agreements and training requirements are met;
- Reviews procedures to ensure that they are being performed in a manner consistent with defined protocols and the highest standards; assists management in the development of departmental policies and procedures pertaining to personnel, supplies, equipment, and patient care;
- Participates in the development and maintenance of effective quality control and quality assurance processes;
- Ensures the highest level of patient care;
- Documents and reports accident/incidents; receives and reviews concerns, and keeps management informed regarding Department concerns and issues; researches, analyzes, and resolves problems effectively;
- Assists management in evaluating the need for new equipment, supplies and services and prepares cost/benefit analysis and supportive documents to justify recommendations; assists with equipment selection and procurement;
- Prepares reports, correspondence, and other documents; analyzes data and develops logical conclusions and recommendations; utilizes standard office administrative tools, including computers, to facilitate communication and work efficiency;
- Participates in the efficient operation of the assigned work unit by performing diagnostic imaging procedures as needed; may perform the most complex and difficult procedures in area(s) of specialization;
- Schedules and coordinates equipment maintenance or repair as needed;
- Attend and schedule meetings as necessary;
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
