Health District Supervisor
Applications are invited from qualified persons for the position of: Health District Supervisor (HPC/EH3)
The Western Regional Health Authority (a Statutory Body under the Ministry of Health & Wellness) is currently seeking to employ a Health District Supervisor for the St. James Public Health Services. Reports to the Deputy Chief Public Health Inspector.
Qualification & Experience
- Diploma in Public Health Inspection/ Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Health or its equivalent;
- Certification in Management Studies, Public Administration, Human Resource Management or Supervisory Management;
- Registration with the Council of Profession Supplementary to Medicine;
- A minimum of five (5) years relevant experience.
Responsibilities
- Participate in the planning of Public Health programmes for districts, implements and review programmes;
- Visit Health Districts with grades 1& 2 to access the effectiveness of measures;
- Investigate complaints and initiates remedial action;
- Give advice and guidance to Public Health Inspectors relating to technical problems, interpretation of and compliance with the regulations;
- Implement Public Law and regulations, serves notices and institute prosecution to enforce the public health law;
- Monitor the inspection of hotels, villas, restaurants, bars, hairdressers and barber shops and make recommendation of licensing;
- Assess sub-divisions and buildings for conformity with plans in regards to drainage and make the necessary recommendations;
- Supervise Inspectors engaged in the inspection of meats and other foods;
- Check records of junior inspectors assess and report their performance, compile and submit other monthly reports;
- Report promptly to health and other authorities outbreaks of illnesses or epidemics in the health district;
- Participate in the planning and implementation of mass immunization programmes;
- Supervise Food Handlers Clinic and lectures to community groups and give advice regarding Public Health to individuals.

- Excellent judgment and decision making skills;
- Excellent knowledge of the Public Health laws and requisite regulations, government regulations, court procedures etc.;
- Ability to promote sanitary practices through education and interest in improving environmental health standards;
- Excellent knowledge of principles and processes involved in organizational planning, coordination and execution.
