Specialist Nurse

Position: Specialist Nurse (HPC/RN 2)

Location: Annotto Bay Hospital.

The North-East Regional Health Authority, a statutory body under the Ministry of Health &  Wellness, with responsibility for the management  and delivery of Public Health  Services within the parishes of St. Ann, St. Mary,  and Portland invites applications from suitably  qualified individuals to fill the position of  Specialist Nurse for the Annotto Bay Hospital.

Reporting to the Director of Nursing Services, the incumbent will be responsible to give advanced level of care to patients who may have life  threatening illnesses, undergoing surgery or  have specific health needs requiring specialized Nursing intervention. 

Qualifications

• BSc. In Nursing / Midwifery;
• Certificate/Diploma in Midwifery, Intensive Care Nursing, Operating Theatre Techniques, Burn Care,
  Haemodialysis, Paediatric Nursing, Emergency Care, etc.

Responsibilities

• Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates care of the critically ill patient and other patients requiring specific specialised nursing care;
• Provides pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative care for patients undergoing surgical interventions;
• Teaches, supervises and evaluates various categories of health care worker;
• Assist in the preparation of ward reports
• Assist immediate supervision with general  management of ward/facility and its  immediate environs;
• Supervises auxiliary and support staff where necessary. Assists in the cost-effective usage of supplies
  and equipment;
• Assumes in charge responsibility when delegated especially afternoon and night duty;
• Teaches patient/client and family health promotion, disease prevention, health maintenance;
• Prepares and presents case studies;
• Participates in evaluation and action research.

Remuneration package

Salary Scale: $4,032,538 – 4,793,421 per annum along with any other allowance(s) attached to the post.
