Staff Nurse

The University of the West Indies, Mona is seeking suitably qualified professionals to join our team in the capacity of Staff Nurse within the Hugh Wynter Fertility Management Unit.

The successful candidate will report to the Clinical Co-ordinator, Hugh Wynter Fertility Management Unit and is expected to perform the duties listed below.

Duties

• Counsel clients about reproductive health and family planning methods
• Administer family planning methods
• Admit and give relevant instructions to persons booked for minimal invasive surgery
• Carry out operating theatre duties
• Provide post-operative care to patients
• Evaluate and discharge patients to home or hospital wards
• Assist with the procurement and management of pharmaceuticals, equipment and supplies
• Assist in teaching pupil midwives and student nurses methods of contraceptives, post basic students and endoscopic care and preparation of instruments in the operatin theatre
• Participate in Sexual and Reproductive health research projects

Qualifications

• An undergraduate degree in Nursing
• Certification as a Registered Nurse
• Certification in Midwifery
• A minimum of three (3) years' experience in general nursing
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and time management skills

Note

Operating Theatre training will be an asset.
