Chief Medical Technologist 1 (HPC/MDT 4)
The North-East Regional Health Authority, a statutory body under the Ministry of Health and Wellness, with responsibility for the management and delivery of Public Health Services within the parishes of St. Ann, St. Mary, and Portland invites applications from suitable qualified persons to fill the position of Chief Medical Technologist 1 at the St. Ann’s Bay Regional Hospital.
Summary
Reporting to the Chief Medical Technologist II, the incumbent will perform scientific/ technical activities at the hospital to inform and support patient care decisions and treatment; public health policy decisions, surveillance, monitoring, intervention and control of communicable and non- communicable disease conditions in the healthcare system.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology from an accredited institution;
- Licensed with the Council, Profession Supplemental to Medicine (CPSM) in Jamaica;
- Training in Supervisory Management;
- Six (6) years working experience at the Supervisory level;
- Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
Responsibilities
- Supervise the day to day operation of the department and responsibilities of staff in accordance with established goals;
- Assistance in the compliance of good work practices by staff as required by the ISO standard;
- Ensures that the workload in processed in a timely and efficient manner, and that performance targets are met;
- Manage the ordering and maintenance of reagent and consumables for the optimal performance of all aspects of the work undertaken in the laboratory of section of the department/laboratory;
- Collect and collate the inventory of blood and blood components within the department and submit to supervisor;
- Participate in the selection of new laboratory instruments and the development of new technologies to enable an improved and more efficient service;
- Assist in the investigation of revenue saving procedures and cost analysis of service delivery while maintaining the quality of the laboratory or section of the department/laboratory operation participate in the costing exercise for the operation of the laboratory of section of the department/laboratory operation;
- Ensures that the calibration and preventative maintenance schedules of laboratory instruments takes place according to laboratory and manufacturers protocols.
Remuneration package
Salary Scale: $ 4,676,508 – $ 5,558,899 per annum
