Sonographer

Reporting to the Chief Radiographer, the Sonographer will support the on-duty Radiologist on a daily basis in performing a range of ultrasound examinations, as offered by Apex Radiology. The job has no direct reports but from time to time may be required to oversee the work of the Radiologic Technology and/or Sonography students.

Our Sonographers are expected to provide exceptional patient care and customer service, providing support and reassurance to patients,

considering their physical and psychological needs.

Requirements

• First degree in Diagnostic Imaging (Radiography);
• Burwin or Michener certificate;
• At least three (3) years working experience;
• Emphatic, patient focused, self-motivated and a life-long learner;
• Works well under pressure and able to multi-task;
• Flexible and adapts well to change;
• Possession of a valid Drivers License.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic procedures using sonographic equipment;
• Use transducer to study images of organs, tissues or blood flow inside the body;
• Examine abdomen, breasts, female reproductive system, prostrate, heart and blood vessels;
• Record anatomical, pathological and or physiological data for interpretation by Radiologist;
• Identify, record and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images;
• Maintain ultrasound equipment and supplies including executing safety and sanitary procedures after use. Reports any abnormal findings immediately to the Bio-Med/IT team and Supervisor(s).
• Takes responsibility in maintaining the ALARA principle.

Note

Apex Radiology has four (4) locations and the incumbent is required to travel to any of these locations as assigned to execute duties.
