Physiotherapist
The North-East Regional Health Authority, a statutory body under the Ministry of Health & Wellness with responsibility for the management and delivery of public health services within the parishes of St. Ann, St. Mary and Portland, is seeking a strong, dynamic, and proactive individual to fill the position of Physiotherapist (HPC/PT 3) at the Portland Health Department.
The incumbent will be responsible to supervise physiotherapists, physiotherapy interns and students, conduct specialist clinics in the area of specialty as required.
Requirements
- Diploma in Physiotherapy or Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from an accredited training institution;
- Completion of a course in Supervisory Management/Adult Instruction/Clinical Education;
- Specialist Qualification/Certification in a major discipline in Physiotherapy;
- At least (5) years clinical experience (and completed rotation in all major specialities);
- Current licensure to practice in Jamaica.
Responsibilities
- Plan, administer and manage the Physiotherapy programme for a unit/specialty area;
- Implement and monitor clinical programmes for Physiotherapy interns and students;
- Monitor the maintenance and repair of equipment and physical plant;
- Coordinate and participate in In-service education programme;
- Implement and monitor quality assurance procedures;
- Conduct performance evaluation reports for staff as required;
- Examine all patients referred for Physiotherapy;
- Develop and implement treatment programmes for each patient;
- Progress treatment and refer on to other services as required;
- Document all information (i.e. subjective, objective, and treatment regime) for each patient;
- Revaluate and change patient’s treatment programme when necessary;
- Develop home programmes for patients as necessary;
- Maintain accurate statistical information (i.e. treatment units, visits) of all patients receiving treatment;
- Consult with Medical Staff and/or Senior Physiotherapy Staff when necessary.
Specific knowledge
- Display sensitivity and empathy to the needs and feelings of patients;
- Ability to motivate patients to comply with therapy;
- Display objectivity, resourcefulness, adaptability and sound judgement;
- Ability to work harmoniously with other members of the health team;
- Working knowledge of computer systems and programmes.
Remuneration
Salary Scale: $4,359,501 – $5,182,077 per annum
