Medical Technologist

Under the supervision of the Laboratory Supervisor, the incumbent performs and reports on standardized tests in areas such as Chemistry, Methodology and Hematology with potential assignments across multiple clinical fields based on workload.

Requirements

• Diploma/certificate or BSc. in Medical Technology from an accredited college or university;
• At least two (2) years professional experience in a clinical laboratory as a Medical Technologist.

Responsibilities

• Conduct laboratory tests, verify results, interpret data and perform quality control procedures while addressing  any issues or abnormalities;
• Assist in the preparations of monthly statistical report by keeping accurate records on all laboratory procedures performed;
• Enhance the efficiency and accuracy of laboratory testing by maintaining adequate supplies, by keeping equipment in operational condition and by maintaining a clean and orderly work area;
• Perform duties and functions necessary for the efficient and quality operations of the department;
• Accept personal accountability for performance;
• Any other laboratory related assigned duties.

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of the discipline of Microbiology, Haematology, Chemistry and knowledge of standard laboratory techniques and procedures;
• Demonstrate professional conduct and interpersonal communication skills both with patients and health professionals;
• Knowledge of the ISO15189:2022 Standard for Medical Laboratory.
