Relief Nurse

Job Purpose
The Relief School Nurse provides temporary healthcare services to students within Mount Pleasant Academy. This role requires a highly adaptable and professional individual with strong clinical skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, demanding environment. This individual will also be working closely with a senior nurse.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensed to practice in Jamaica;
- At least three (3) years experience in a related field;
- Current certification in CPR and First Aid;
- Experience working with children preferred;
- Knowledge of basic sports injury assessment and management is desirable;
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- Compassionate and patient demeanour.
Responsibilities
- Assess, treat and document minor illnesses and injuries (e.g. cuts, scrapes, fevers, headaches, muscle strains);
- Administer medications as per physician orders and school policies;
- Provide first aid and emergency care as needed;
- Assist in the initial assessment and management of sports injuries (e.g., sprains, strains, concussions);
- Collaborate with trainers and coaches for optimal student care;
- Maintain accurate and confidential student health records;
- Document all medical interventions and treatments;
- Communicate effectively with students, teachers, coaches and other school personnel regarding student health needs.
Note
the Relief School Nurse will be required to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, depending on the school`s needs.
