Position: Ward/Nurse Manager (HPC/RN 3 )
Location: St. Ann’s Bay Regional Hospital
Salary Scale: $5,055,684 – $6,009,620 per annum
The North-East Regional Health Authority, a statutory body under the Ministry of Health & Wellness, with responsibility for the management and delivery of Public Health Services within the parishes of St. Ann, St. Mary, and Portland invites applications from suitably qualified individuals to fill the position of Ward/Nurse Manager for the St. Ann’s Bay Regional Hospital.
Qualifications
- BSc. In General Nursing Plus;
- Certificate in Midwifery plus;
- Bachelor or Certificate in Nursing Administration/ Health Services Administration or equivalent post registration qualification in Administration/ Management;
- Minimum of Four (4) years` work experience;
- Registration with the Nursing Council of Jamaica .
Responsibilities
- Supervising the clinical management of patients within the unit;
- Establishing the patient classification system;
- Acts promptly and decisively in emergency situations;
- Conducts quality assurance audit;
- Gives direct care to seriously ill patients;
- Lead nursing and medical ward rounds and provide nursing consultation on clinical status of individual patients.
Related Knowledge/Abilities
- Knowledge of Behavioural and Medical Sciences;
- Knowledge of Nutrition, Pharmacology and Therapeutics;
- Knowledge of nursing health and related legislations;
- Ability to make calculated and quick decisions and to remain calm in stressful situations;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with members of the health team as well as patients and relatives;
- Emotionally and mentally stable.
