Nutritionist (ND 3)

Position: Nutritionist (HPC/ND 3)

Applications are invited from suitably qualified applicants to fill the following position within the Medical Services Branch of the Jamaica Constabulary Force.

Job Purpose

The Jamaica  Constabulary Force (JCF) Medical Services Branch Nutrition Department plans and implements nutritional programmes to assist in the promotion of nutritional health and control of lifestyle diseases for sworn and unsworn members as well as their immediate family members. Provides nutritional assesseme4nt, medical nutrition therapy, education and counselling to individuals; serves as a resource on nutrition and dietetics to other clinicians and health care providers in the facility and the wider JCF. Responsible for conducting health research, identifying the source of nutritional issues within the JCF population and devising ways to address them, developing programs/interventions to promote and maintain healthy lifestyle in the workplace.

The incumbent will report to the Director of Nutrition Services and provide assistance with all aspects of the programmes dispensed from the MSB Nutrition Department.

Education & Experience

• MSc. Degree in Nutrition/Dietetics or in Home Economics with a Nutrition/Dietetic emphasis. Internship following completion of degree that would lead  to qualification for active membership in a professional organization;
• Current registration with the Council of the Professions Supplementary to Medicine;
• A minimum of three (3) years experience in Nutrition and Dietetics and Public Health Nutrition;
• Ability to pass a background check.
