The Southern Regional Health Authority (SRHA), a Statutory Body under the Ministry of Health & Wellness responsible for the management and  operation of Public Health Services within the Parishes of Clarendon, Manchester and St.  Elizabeth, invites applications from suitably  qualified persons for the following position at  LIONEL TOWN HOSPITAL:

Male Hospital Attendant-Dietary (HSC/HS 1)-VACANT

Salary range: $990,843 – $1,777,801 per annum and any allowance(s) attached to the post

Job Summary
Under the general supervision of the Assistant  Dietitian, routine work in heavy duty cleaning of kitchen, production and soiled areas following  daily cleaning schedule, organizing food and  other items in the storeroom and performing  other general domestic duties.

Qualifications

• Completion of Secondary Education;
• HEART/NSTA Level 1 Certificate in  Commercial Food Preparation or  equivalent qualification from an approved  institution;
• Participation in In-Service Training Programme.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with the removal of large pots  from the fire;
• Cleaning and sanitizes kitchen floor areas  and equipment;
• Removal of kitchen waste from waste  containers and disposing of them properly;
• Assisting supervisors in receiving food  items from main stores into day stores, and the removal of perishable and non- perishable items from stores into the  production areas;
• Responsible to bring food trolleys to wards  and to retrieve food trolleys from wards the washing area of the department;
• Sweeping and mops floor as soon as each  meal leaves the department;
• Collecting cleaning supplies from general  stores;
• Cleaning and maintaining cooking  equipment like range cookers, pots and  food mixers;
• Cobwebs, cleans and wipes tiles in  department;
• Deep cleaning of walk in chiller and store  rooms to maintain sanitary and kitchen safety standards;
• Thorough cleaning of stoves, deep freezer, Bain Marie, and other large food service equipment.

Specific Knowledge and Skills Required

• Working knowledge of established hygiene  standards;
• Knowledge of Manual Handling Techniques;
• Care and Use of Food Service;
• Knowledge of Equipment and Kitchen  Utensils;
• Knowledge of Kitchen Safety and Health  Regulations;
• Knowledge of Infection Control;
• Ability to communicate effectively both oral  and written;
• Ability to respect patient confidentiality.

Special conditions associated with the job

• Must possess a valid food handler permit;
• Normal hospital environment working in a  Dietary Department;
• Required to work on a shift basis; maybe  required to work overtime;
• Excessive standing and high temperature  environment associated with regular duties;
• Ability to lift weights of 100 pounds (45 kilograms) at a time.
