Nursing Manager (RN3)

The Western Regional Health Authority (a Statutory Body under the Ministry of Health) is currently seeking to employ a Nursing Manager for the St. James Public Health Services and the Westmoreland Health Department. Reports to the District Public Health Nurse.

Location: St. James Public Health Services & Westmoreland Health Department

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
• Certificate in Midwifery and Nursing Administration from an accredited institution.
• Registration with the Nursing Council of Jamaica as a Registered Nurse and Midwife.
• At least three (3) years Clinical Practice to proficiency level as a Registered Nurse/Midwife.
• Prior experience as a Nurse Manager would be an asset.

Core Functions

• Providing guidance and support on technical matters/procedures within the assigned facility.
• Providing guidance, mentorship and support to the Registered Nurses, Specialist Nurses, Registered Midwives, Enrolled Assistant Nurses, Auxiliary and Ancillary Staff within the facility.
• Ensuring adequate supplies of drugs, equipment, sundries, etc. are available within the facility.
• Assisting with the clinical training of Nursing and Midwifery Students.
• Assisting with the training of Auxiliary and Ancillary staff.
• Maintaining adequate supply of Nursing and Programme Manuals and ensuring their usage.
• Assisting with all other programme areas/activities within the Health Centre and the Public Health Nurses Programme Areas.
• Collaborating with other agencies (public & private) to facilitate holistic care of clients.
• Ensuring timely completion and submission of reports.
