Epidemiological Officer (HPC/ALH 1)
Job Purpose
To coordinate (under the supervision of the Principal Medical Officer, National Epidemiologist) epidemiological activities such as planning and implementing epidemiological studies, analysing data, and preparing reports and training.
Responsibilities
- Collaborates with the National Epidemiologist, in developing/designing research protocols and proposals, and surveillance systems.
- Coordinates the implementation of training programmes in epidemiology for field staff.
- Preparing data for report writing, including data tables and summarization for epidemiological findings.
- Participates in the preparation and presentation of epidemiological findings.
- Performs related duties such as preparing for conferences, seminars etc.
- Assists the National Epidemiologist in the collation, assessment, verification, standardization and analysis of data relative to the epidemiological information of the country.
- Prepare graphic presentations and written reports of data received.
- Monitors trends and undertake comparative analysis of epidemiological data.
- Prepare routine reports on selected aspects of epidemiological control and surveillance including weekly, monthly, annual and special reports.
- Assists in the preparation of protocols, procedures manuals and other documents relative to epidemiology.
- Liaises with public and private agencies in monitoring of health conditions within the framework of the national epidemiological policies and system.
- Provides support to the National Disaster Management Team as required.
- Assist in preparation of special reports for national, regional and international agencies.
- Participates in special surveys, as required.
- The Ministry of Health may determine such other duties and responsibilities as from time to time.
Minimum Qualification & Experience
- Sc. Degree in Health Related Sciences or equivalent
- Training in Epidemiology
- Minimum of three (3) years working experience in health field.
