Clinical Instructor

Excelsior Community College invites applicatoins from suitably qualified persons to fill the position of Clinical Instructor in the School of Nursing.

Qualifications

• Baccalaureate degree or higher as appropriate for the health care discipline and level of students to be precepted
• Licensure or certificate in good standing, as appropriate for the health care discipline and level of student being precepted if serving as a preceptor within nursing practice or an allied health course as a Registered Nurse in Jamaica
• Two - three years full-time Medical-Surgical clinical experience relevant to the area of responsibility

Required Competencies

• Competence in Nursing Theory and Practices
• Ability to utilize innovative teaching strategies and methodologies
• Proven competence in the use of personal computers
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Excellent customer relations skills

Experience in

• Coordinating and evaluating teaching and extension programmes
• Curriculum development
• Managing resources
• Clinical practice for a minimum of three (3) to five (5) years

Ideally candidates should

• Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to plan, evaluate, coordinate and implement the Nursing Education Programme using the interdisciplinary approach with other departments, government agencies, college, clientele groups, the health community and related professional organizations.
