Clinic Officer


The National family Planning Board, a statutory agency of the Ministry of Health is seeking to identify a motivated, results-oriented and qualified professional to fill the position of Clinic Officer.

The incumbent is responsible for the management and administration of the Health Promotion & Prevention Mobile Unit and for the delivery of Family Planning and HIV Clinic Services to facilities.

Requirement

  • Registered Nurse and Certified Midwife
  • Five (5) years' experience in the delivery of family planning clinical services

 

Technical / Professional Responsibilities

  • Provides clinic services at the workplace in order to:
    - Augment the service already delivered by making family planning and HIV services more readily available to clients and by gaining new clients;
    - Reduce loss in production time incurred through travelling and waiting at general health facilities;
    - Introduce family planning & HIV /family life information and counselling services.
  • Provides within the work centres a range of clinical services inter alia fitting IUD's, doing pap smears, doing pregnancy tests, treating minor contraceptive side effect; taking clients' blood pressure and weight, taking HIV test
  • Dispenses contraceptives
  • Make referrals for situations that need services outside the scope of the job
  • Conducts talks and other educational activities when requested
  • Establishes and maintains health records for client
  • Maintains acceptable standard of nursing care and equipment in the Mobile Clinic
  • Performs monthly inventory, maintain an adequate stock level and submits requisition for supplies
  • Compiles service statistics for submission to the Director, Treatment Liaison Officer
  • Identifies, organises and implements service in new facilities

 

Required Competencies

  • Thorough knowledge of family planning/ and HIV family life education, contraceptive service delivery
  • Thorough knowledge of the resources available to the public i.e., clinics/agencies to which clients can be referred
  • Ability to communicate with people at all levels - must be a good listener and capable of exercising tact, discretion ad sound judgement
  • Ability to use imitative by taking action when necessary without prompting
  • Ability to identify and analyse work related problems and generate innovative or appropriate solutions
  • Excellent Customer Relations skills
