Director of Nursing Services

Applications are invited from qualified persons for the position of: The Western Regional Health Authority (a Statutory Body under the Ministry of Health) is currently seeking to fill the post of Director of Nursing Services for the Falmouth Public General Hospital.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the incumbent will be responsible for the establishment and maintenance of an organizational framework for the delivery of optimal patient care. The Director of Nursing Services will have the overall administrative responsibility to:

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, lead, control and coordinate nursing and midwifery services for the Falmouth General Hospital.
• Coordinate Nursing and Midwifery services with other health care facilities and agencies.
• Ensure the maintenance of Nursing and Midwifery Standards through the planning, implementation and evaluation of quality assurance programmes.
• Participate in the formulation, implementation and evaluation of educational programmes for nursing midwifery personnel.
• Initiate, promote and participate in research studies in nursing and midwifery practices and general health care services.
• Bachelors Degree in General Nursing from an accredited institution.

Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree/ Certificate in Advance Nursing Administration and Midwifery
• Minimum six (6) years of management practice in addition to clinical practice 
• Registration and current licence with the Nursing Council of Jamaica in General Nursing and Midwifery

• Excellent clinical nursing skills
• Good leadership and management skills 
• Excellent decision making and critical thinking skills 
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Working knowledge of Human Resource Management and Interpersonal Relations
