Pharmacist


Location:  Bog Walk, St. Catherine

Summary

The Pharmacist is responsible for the dispensing of items including inventory managementand will adhere to the legal and ethical guidelines to ensure the correct and safe supply of medical products to the geeral public. He/She will supervise staff and ensure all guidelines are adhered to while monitoring the sale of over-the-counter medical products and instruct patients in the use of medicines and medical devices. Specialist health checks, such as blood pressure monitoring and diabetes screening will be done.

Qualifications

  • Diploma/BSc. in Pharmacy
  • Registration wit the Pharmacy Board of Jamaica
  • Minimum 2 years experience.

 

Responsibilities

  • Dispensing prescription medicines to the public.
  • Ensuring that different treatments are compatible.
  • Checking dosage and ensuring that medicines are correctly and safely supplied and labeled.
  • Supervising the preparation of any medicines.
  • Keeping a register of controlled drugss for legal and stock control purposes.
  • Liaising with doctors about prescriptions.
  • Counselling and advising the public on the treatment of minor ailments.
  • Advising patients of any adverse side-effects of medicines or potential interactions with other medicines/treatments.
  • Managing, supervising and training pharmacy support staff.
  • Assisting in Inventory and Receivables management of all stock under their immediate supervision.
  • Keeping up to date with current pharmacy practice, new drugs and their uses sourcing items for patients as the need dictates.
