Medical Technologist

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology
• At least five (5) years professional experience in a clinical laboratory as a Medical  Technologist
• At least two (2) years supervisory experience

Special Requirements

• Registration by the Council of Professions Supplementary of Medicine
• Must own a reliable motor vehicle

Responsibilities

• Perform tests and report results
• Perform and document related quality control
• Confirm and verify abnormal results
• Correlate and interpret data
• Engage in problem solving
• Enhance the efficiency and accuracy of laboratory testing by maintaining adequate supplies, by keeping equipment in operational condition and by maintaining a clean and orderly work area
• Assist in the preparation of monthly statistical report by keeping accurate records on all laboratory procedures performed
• Perform duties and functions necessary for the efficient and quality operations of the department
• Perform emergency duties as required

• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
• Ability to effectively work in a team environment with minimum supervision
• Strong analytical, administrative and problem solving skills
• Proficiency in the use of computer application software
• Very good interpersonal and customer service skills
• Flexibility and versatility to operate in a demanding environment
• High level of professionalism and confidentiality
• Knowledge of the disciplines of Microbiology, Haematology, Chemistry and knowledge of standard laboratory techniques and procedures
• Demonstrate professional conduct and interpersonal communication skills
  both with patients and health professionals
