Regional Environmental Health Officer

The Southern Regional Health Authority (SRHA), a Statutory Body under the Ministry of Health responsible for the management and operation of Public Health Services within the Parishes of Clarendon, Manchester and St. Elizabeth, invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the following position:
REGIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH OFFICER (HPE/EH6) SRHA-Regional Office

Under the general direction of the Regional Technical Director, the Regional Environmental Health Officer
is responsible for coordinating the environmental programmes in the Region.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Environmental Health or equivalent
• Master’s Degree in Public Health or equivalent
• Four (4) years related experience in Environmental Health, Sanitary Engineering or Public Health Inspection
• Certification in Supervisory Management
• Registration with the Council for Professionals Supplementary to Medicine

Responsibilities

• Formulating/developing, prioritizing, advising and evaluating environmental health related programmes for the Region.
• Advising the Regional Technical Director and Local Boards on environmental issues.
• Monitoring and ensuring compliance with established public health practices.
• Participating in the development of technical staff in the Region.
• Liaising with Government and non-governmental organization on environmental health issues.
• Coordinating the preparation and implementation of the Regional Strategic and Operational plans on
  environmental health, which are consistent with national policies and priorities.
• Providing technical guidance to relevant staff at the parish level in the development and implementation of Environmental Health Programmes.
• Monitoring parish environmental programmes, plans and activities and report to the Regional Technical Director. Recommend new strategies, methods and techniques, as required.
